Electronic line-calling in Charleston

Clay-court tournaments generally do not yet use electronic line calling.

But the Volvo Open in Charleston, played on a similar surface called Har-Tru, will have the system in place for this year’s edition.

They will use the FoxTenn system, approved by the WTA two years ago.

And it will be available on the two stadium courts.

Using electronic line-calling is likely coming on the ATP side, too.

The Player Council has recommended the ATP trial an approved system at three events (a 250, 500 and a Masters 1000) in 2020 before a final decision is made.
