At 44, no retirement for Peschke

Everything we heard indicated that doubles veteran Kveta Peschke, who will be 45 next July, was retiring.

Well, it turns out Peschke won’t be hanging up her rackets. But she won’t be pursuing her career with American Nicole Melichar, with whom she won five WTA Tour titles and reached the Wimbledon final in 2018.

Peschke’s husband Torsten coached the pair.

Peschke has signed on to play the Australian summer (Brisbane, Adelaide and the Australian Open) with talented Dutch doubles player Demi Schuurs.

We are, however, hearing that Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld is retiring. She and … Schuurs qualified for Shenzhen this year.
