Johnson wins cash tourney in SF

There are other ways to earn cash beyond the official tours.

American Steve Johnson picked up $50,000 for winning the KPSF Championships in Berkeley, Calif. last weekend. Just three match wins were needed.

It’s a “level-based community play-in tournament”. But American pros Johnson, Sam Querrey, and others took part. Obviously there are no ranking points.

Finalist Stefan Kozlov, a former top junior once ranked No. 115 on the ATP but currently at No. 546, picked up $20,000.

That’s more than Kozlov has made all year, including the $11K he picked up for losing first round in US Open qualifying.
