Good news on Court 12 emergency

The medical emergency on Court 12 during the third-round match between Jan-Lennard Struff and Mikhail Kukushkin last Friday was serious enough that they cleared the court.

A 60-year-old woman’s heart stopped, and the St. John’s Ambulance personnel (volunteers, bless ’em) on hand used a defibrillator and reanimated her.


Her daughter Cyra signed up on Twitter to let everyone know how her mother is doing and to give shutouts to the St. Johns people, the tournament and to Struff personally.

Cyra wrote it was quite severe, and the recovery period will be lengthy although her mother is speaking clearly again.
