Fed Cup super-finale on the way?

The BBC is reporting that the ITF is pursuing a Fed Cup “super-final” as early as April, 2020.

There would be eight qualifying ties in February – the same number as now, with four in World Group I and four in World Group II. So the reported proposed 12-nation final would have four teams beyond the winners.

The report says the ITF is looking for “expressions of interest” from potential host cities in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. east coast by the end of this week.

The ITF’s official comment is that “nothing has been decided.”
