Another marathon moment for Mauresmo

Amélie Mauresmo decided, like, a month ago to run the New York City Marathon.

Hey, why not? After two kids, at age 39, seems like a good thing to do on a whim.

Averaging just under eight minutes a mile, Mauresmo finished Sunday’s race in three hours, 27 minutes and 33 seconds – beating her 2010 time.

Mauresmo, the new French Davis Cup captain next year, retired at age 30 in 2009 – young by today’s standards.

She ran her first NYC Marathon the following year, clocking three hours, 40 minutes and 20 seconds.

“It was truly very tough, but it’s done,” she wrote on Instagram.
