Top Frenchmen snubbed for Davis Cup

French Davis Cup captain Yannick Noah has convened six players for a 10-day clay training camp ahead of the Davis Cup final.

Lucas Pouille, Richard Gasquet, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Jérémy Chardy and doubles stars Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert (who’ll be at the ATP Tour Finals) got the call.

Pouille’s 2018 has been terrible. Tsonga hasn’t played on clay since the 2017 Davis Cup semifinals, or five sets since the Australian Open (on hard court).

Left aside: Gaël Monfils, Benoit Paire, Julien Benneteau (who continued his season, just in case) and the oft-overlooked Gilles Simon, who’s … 6-1 against Marin Cilic.
