Sabalenka WTA player of the month

The WTA’s September awards are out.

And it’s no surprise that the rising Aryna Sabalenka was named player of the month.


Sabalenka played more tennis than anyone going into the US Open. But she reached the second week, losing to eventual champion Naomi Osaka.

In Asia, she picked up right where she left off .

The 20-year-old won Wuhan and reached the quarters in Beijing. From No. 25 going into New Haven the week before New York, she sits at No. 11.

Anett Konaveit won “breakthrough of the month” while the astonishing Su-Wei Hsieh won shot of the month.
