Tsonga supports Davis Cup mates

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who has played just two tournaments this year (the last one in February) and had knee surgery in April, had hoped to be back for the US Open.

That didn’t happen. But he at least was a welcome sight Friday as he cheered on his Davis Cup teammates from the sidelines in Lille.

The 33-year-old, whose ranking is down to No. 73, is entered in the ATP event in Metz, France next week and has been announced for Antwerp next month.

But there really hasn’t been any official news from him for nearly a month.
