Almagro slowly making his way back

Nicolas Almagro, the former top-10 player, had a heartbreaker of a moment at last year’s French Open when he was forced to retire during his match against Juan Martin del Potro with a knee injury.

He had surgery on his meniscus and made it back for a few tournaments in September. But then, he had more surgery in December.

Finally, he’s back.

Almagro got wild cards into two Challengers and then the Bastad qualifying.

He plays his first ATP-level main draw match Tuesday in Gstaad, against fellow wild card Marc-Andre Huesler of Switzerland.
