Konta “close to a coaching hire”

After the best season of her career, Johanna Konta parted ways with coach Wim Fissette at the end of 2017.

A month later, Fissette signed on with former No. 1 Angelique Kerber.

And Konta appears poised to swoop in on the coach of another former No. 1, Victoria Azarenka.

Reports out of the U.K. are that longtime Maria Sharapova coach, and current Azarenka coach Michael Joyce is in serious talks with Konta to join her team in 2018.

What that means for Azarenka is to be determined. But her personal situation makes the future highly uncertain.
