Three qualifiers make Tokyo semis

For many fans, the tennis season ends with the US Open.

But many ranking points remain on the table in 2017. It’s a great opportunity for lower-ranked players to position themselves for the Australian Open.

At the Japan Open this week, three qualifiers have made the semifinas: Zarina Diyas (No. 100), Jana Fett (No. 123) and Miyu Kato (No. 171).

Fett lost in the final round of qualifying both at Wimbledon (devastated, as you can see in the pic) and in New York.

She has all but nailed down direct entry into Melbourne for her Grand Slam debut.
