Sock shoes a Mattek-Sands tribute

In the wake of the horrific injury suffered by Bethanie Mattek-Sands Thursday during her second-round singles match, countryman Jack Sock went on court with a message Friday.

Sock, who won Olympic gold with Mattek-Sands in Rio, inscribed her name on his Nikes and went out with another Mattek-Sands friend, Madison Keys, to play a first-round mixed doubles match.

It must have done the trick. Sock and Keys beat Guillermo Duran and Alicja Rosolska 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the second round.
