Smiling Hsieh’s fun run ends

Perhaps Su-Wei Hsieh’s third-round singles loss to France’s Caroline Garcia was a good thing for the tournament – if not for the 31-year-old herself.

Hsieh served for the match against Garcia. But she couldn’t quite get over the line and lost it 9-7 in the third set.

That allowed Garcia and countrywoman Alizé Cornet to meet in dramatic fashion for a spot in their home-country Slam quarterfinal.

The Taiwanese veteran, who lives in France with her French boyfriend, had a huge cheering section and an even bigger smile throughout the run.
