David Ferrer to miss Monte Carlo

David Ferrer, Spain’s Davis Cup hero last weekend in Valencia, will miss the Monte Carlo Masters next week.

It’s not because he’s still recovering from the grueling, five-set win over Philipp Kohlschreiber that gave Spain the tie. It’s for a far better reason.

Ferrer’s wife Marta Tornel reportedly is about to give birth to their first child.

Tornel was on hand in Valencia last weekend. Luckily she didn’t go into premature labor, as stressful as it all was.

The two, who had been dating forever, married in November, 2015.
