Sloane Stephens, college graduate

When Sloane Stephens won her quarterfinal match at the US Open, she noted her biggest stress was that she was going to fail her last semester of college.

“I’m totally not going to graduate. I haven’t done any work for two weeks… My professors actually texted me, so maybe they’ll let me, you know… slide,” she said with a laugh.

Stephens managed to get it done. She received her Bachelor of Arts diploma from Indiana University East Thursday.

The WTA Tour offers a great deal on tuition at that school, which also graduated Venus Williams.
