Kuznetsova may miss Australia

Svetlana Kuznetsova, who was on track to qualify for the WTA Tour Finals in Singapore before a wrist injury, likely won’t be ready to start 2018.

The top-ranked Russian player told Sport Express that it was “a very complicated diagnosis,” involving two separate wrist issues and a procedure done in early November.

“I’m still recovering. The doctor does not talk about specific dates when I can start training and playing. Australia, apparently, I will have to miss,” she said.

In February, the WTA Tour heads to her hometown of St. Petersburg. Kuznetsova can’t confirm she’ll be ready even then.
