Defending champ Cilic out of Cincy

It seems as though a lot of the ATP Tour players are on a week-to-week basis these days.

The most recent withdrawal from a big event came Friday, when Wimbledon finalist Marin Cilic announced he wouldn’t play the Cincinnati Masters 1000 next week.


Cilic had already pulled out of a similar event in Montreal this week.

It’s an ongoing adductor problem. But while he (and Andy Murray) will continue to work to be ready for the US Open, it’s clear neither will be entirely healthy, nor prepared.
