The surgically-repaired knee is okay.

But 46-year-old Kimiko Date has been dealing with both biceps tendinitis and a calf injury as she tries to return once again.

She’s back now. And she has hit California. And she is clearly eating like a native.

Date will use her protected ranking to play two $60,000 ITF tournaments in Stockton and Sacramento, followed by the qualifying at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford.

Her first-round opponent in Stockton will be American Usue Arconada who at 18, is 26 years younger.
