In his annual Wimbledon wrapup, Sports Illustrated’s Jon Wertheim had some news about Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The American suffered a hideous knee injury early in the Wimbledon event, a harrowing moment no one will forget any time soon.

After knee surgery, the 32-year-old is rehabbing on a daily basis, with electric stimulation and ice compression to help with the healing process.

Wertheim wrote that she’s optimistic she will eventually come back, but that it’s too early in the rehab process to talk about when that might actually happen.
