Roger Federer’s first tournament in 10 weeks ended after one match, a surprise loss to old friend Tommy Haas in Stuttgart last week.
He’ll try again this week in Halle, a tournament he has won eight times. It’s sort of like his version of Rafael Nadal’s Barcelona.
“When I returned to Switzerland I didn’t feel ready physically or mentally to play the French Open,” Federer said. “It was a tough one; it was the first time in my life I pulled out of a Grand Slam by feeling fine.”
