First doubles, now singles for Kokkinakis

Thanasi Kokkinakis, the promising 21-year-old Aussie who has been decimated by injuries, finally returned this week – in doubles – at a Challenger in Bordeaux, France.

Next week, he’ll try singles as he faces Denis Istomin in the first round of the ATP Tour event in Lyon. He is entered in the French Open with a protected ranking, but the best-of-five set format is another serious step up.
