Canadian Genie Bouchard has been in Nürnberg since early this week, as she committed early to play the tournament she won in 2014.

As a bonus, a junior her coach Thomas Högstedt works closely with at the IMG Academy has received a wild card into the qualifying.

Zoe Kruger, a 14-year-old South African ranked No. 226 in the ITF junior rankings, will play No. 9 seed Marie Bouzkova in the first round. Kruger already has an agent at IMG. She received a wild card into the Australian Open juniors in January.
