If banned, Nastase threatens to quit


He had a few days to reflect. But the best former Romanian Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase could summon up was that the controversies were exaggerated.

By Friday, he was back with the attitude in an interview with the BBC.  “I was so good in England that I have a statue at Madame Tussaud’s. Are they going to destroy it and throw it out?,” he asked no one in particular. His comment about Serena Williams was only racist to people in England – again, according to the Nastase code of morals and ethics.
